New on DesignSpecs: Cityscapes
We welcome Studio Wae on DesignSpecs with two new products: Cityscapes carpet tiles and Cityscapes Concrete tiles for outdoor use.
Cityscapes carpet tiles
Cityscapes carpet tiles are made of 100% woolfelt and is available in different colors. The tiles can be arranged and rearranged into various shapes to create symmetrical geometry as well as asymmetrical islands. The tiles are easy to install and have both acoustic and insulating values. Furthermore, Cityscapes carpet tiles can be used as floor and wall decoration.
The Cityscapes carpet tiles are available in two types: a wool felt or felt made from recycled fabrics. The carpet tiles from recycled fabrics are curated by i-did slow fashion movement. i-did believes in a social and circular society and helped Studio Wae find the most suitable fabrics for their circular tiles. Dependent on the color, the recycled tiles are either made from army or flight attendant uniforms or from other used clothes.
Ornamental paving
Ornamental paving gets an entire new meaning with Cityscapes. The design of the tiles derives from the work of M.C. Escher. Just likt the work of Escher, Cityskapes are shaped geometrically, leaving you with the creativity to lay out your own look and feel for your path. The original shape of the tiles makes it possible to create symmetrical as well as a-symmetrical patterns. The Concrete Cityscapes tiles are suited for public spaces, driveways, garden paths or terraces. Ciyscapes tiles are durable, weatherproof and suitable for intensive use.
The Concrete Cityscape tiles are available in two types: a regular and a circular tile. For the circular tiles, a clean glass fraction without a recycling-process is used. Normally, this fraction would be waste, but now it’s the 35% glass in the Circular Cityscapes tiles. For now the tiles are made with 65% reused materials, thus marked with the NLGreenlabel sustainability label A.
About Studio Wae
Studio Wae was founded by Tynke van den Heuvel. For a project she was looking for a special carpet on Pinterest, which had to be soft, flat and adjustable. That’s when she scouted the Cityscapes. The only problem was that the carpet wasn't on the market yet.....
At that moment, Cityscapes was a study project of Elena and Peter under the label of Allt Studio. This is where the collaboration between Studio Wae and Allt Studio started. After a ton of research, she found a perfect match in materials: wool felt. Cityscapes were then made available in different colors of high quality 100% wool felt.
